GOOD SAMARITAN

The Lilly Washington Public Library is especially grateful to Mickey Arnold, a Lilly native who was raised on Scanlan Hill and now resides in Pittsburgh for his recent donation to the Library.

Mick had read about the theft of 9 Disney DVD’s from the Library and sent a contribution of $160 to replace them in memory of his sister-in-law Emily Arnold who worked for the library for many years putting in a continuous effort as she considered the library important to the community. With Mick’s donation the library patrons can once again enjoy the movies.

SYMPATHY

The sympathy of the community is extended to the family and friends of Pauline Brady who recently passed away. Pauline was well known in the community and well regarded by all. My daughters really loved her and would often visit here while they were growing up. She is survived by her daughter Carol and son Charles Jr.

BIRTHDAYS

Today, February 18th is a busy day as Ed Costlow, Bobby Glenn, Genevieve Lassak, Shirley Patterson and Scott Steberger all celebrate their birthdays  as will Kelly Engle, Jenns Klatt, Tricia Martino, Bryan Offman, Robert Shedlock and Melanie Wilkinson on the 19th and Helena Link on the 20th.

On the 21st it will be party time for Megan Panek, Bill Patterson and Christina Rowe. Then on the 22nd Tina Digruilles, Dylan Gressick and Victoria Regan will celebrate. Walter and June Nadolsky celebrate their 53rd Wedding Anniversary on February 21st. Bernard and Helen Phillips celebrate their anniversary on the 23rd/ Best Wishes to both couples.

VETERANS

Korean era veterans I am trying to track this week include Edward Kaputska. Philip Kaputska, Charles Kearney., Stanley Kodosky, Robert Kodosky, Albert Leap. Orie Leap. Russell Leap., Henry Leiden, Walter Lecznski and Wesley Lowery.

ICE SKATING

I paid a visit to the rinks at the War Memorial. Both Ron Muldoon and George Klayko were present and said there have been some nice turn outs of skaters, especially on the past Friday evening.

They want to remind parents to make sure young skaters come with helmets and gloves

SNOW AND MORE SNOW

As I write this weeks column there are predictions of more snow in the near future. I don’t know where we can pile much more.
