SNOW

With all this snow build up along the streets, in our yards and on the hillsides if your home has any chance of getting a cellar full of water during a fast thaw it may be a good idea to get any valuables off the floor and into higher positions.

My daughter lives half way up a hill in Cresson and her cellar got flooded in the last thaw a couple of weeks ago. As they are the only ones tapped into the new system on her part of the street I suspect an engineering flaw was the cause for all her damage. She encountered water spurting like a fountain in her cellar drain as did a manhole down the hill.

SYMPATHY

The community’s sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Patricia Salony who recently died in California. Patricia was a 1961 graduate of Lilly/Washington High School she then graduated from Mount Aloysius and UCLA. She was a broker for Charles Schwab. Patty was a daughter of the late Mike and Elizabeth Salony. Her brothers Jim, Tim and Kim all reside in Lilly. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Lilly/Washington Historical Society.

CHURCH DINNER

On Sunday stuffed pork chop dinners will be available at Our Lady of Mount Carmel National Catholic Church from 11 am until 2 pm. At $ 8 adult and $4 for children you can dine in. Take outs are all $8.

ICE SKATING

There is too much snow accumulated in the parking lot and on the ice rinks to allow much use of the rink at present. Best bets are to check each weekend to see if it is open. Drive by or call Ron Muldoon.

A belated birthday greeting goes to Michelle Claar who celebrated on February 7th. Michelle is the new council member in Lilly.
