HALLOWEEN
The Halloween parade held Sunday afternoon on October 25th was a colorful event with over 200 participants in the parade and accompanying treat at the ambulance station. Deluca’s Market had a decorated truck in the line of march and there was even a donkey joining the ranks this year. The weather was nice for the occasion and the door to door visits that followed.
In the two contests held by the decorating committee prizes were awarded after the parade. The Scariest Scarecrow award went to Cody Morgart and second place to Ken Behe. The Happiest Scarecrow was 1st place Evan McConnell and second Logan Johnson.
Most Unique 1st place was a jack-o-lantern by Jeanna McConnell and second place Cindy Kline and the Best Carved award went to Austin Kline.
The Scarecrow contests awards went to Galls Insurance, Lilly Bank, Evan McConnell and Gina McConnell. These were all nicely made up life size scarecrows that graced the ambulance buildings front lawn all week, Credit is due to all the jack-o-lantern carvers and those who made the scarecrows for taking the time to add some interest and color to the community event.
In the evening the fire company ran its haunted house and a hayride that took the tractor drawn wagon riders on a visit to Spooky Hollow below town were they were greeted by ghosts and goblins.
NEW BABY
The population of Stumptown has increased with a new baby arriving in the village. Joe and Tanya Phillips welcomed a new son into their family on October 19th. Patrick Joshua Phillips weighed in at 8 pounds 3 ounces at birth and was 21 inches in size. Grandparents are Mike and Betty Phillips from, of course, Stumptown, and Chuck and Paulette Harris of Sankertown. Santa’s list got a bit bigger.
APPLE DUMPLINGS
The Lilly Fire Company auxiliary will be holding an apple dumpling sale this Saturday at the fire hall. Call the fire hall with advance orders or stop in and buy a few after 8 AM Saturday. They will be there until the dumplings all go.
SYMPATHY
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Joseph Przybzs (Sibis) who died last week. He was a son of the late Bolic and Josephine Przybys. and to the family and friends of Sister Marie Helene Monahan, a Sister of Saint Joseph nun for 80 years who died recently at the age of 95. She grew up in Dutchtown a daughter of the late Robert E. and Anna R. (Behe) Monahan.
AWARD OF MERIT
The Lilly/Washington Historical Society’s Book “The Spirit of the Community “was selected as a recipient of an Award of Merit from the Pennsylvania Federation of Museums and Historical Organizations, The award will be presented on November 9th in Columbia Pennsylvania at a luncheon reception at the National Watch and Clock Museum.
Two Merit Awards are to be presented. The other one is going to an 18 Million Dollar Museum Project in the Philadelphia area. As the book is now an award winner and there are no copies left for sale and no reprints planned the people that have purchased a copy have seen an added value to their purchase.
FOOTBALL
The Steelers win over the Minnesota Viking has to be one of the great football games so far this year as the Vikings came to town undefeated.
In local circles the Lilly Grade School Raiders have an undefeated season and will face Glendale, also undefeated, in a Championship Game at Glendale this Saturday. Lilly had beaten Central Cambria at home on the 24th in a game played in intermittent drizzles of rain.
Also the Penn Cambria Junior High School football team that includes several players from the Lilly area remains undefeated after beating Forest Hills last week. Their record is now 7-0.

ANNIVERSARIES
Today, October 29th John and Paula Gides celebrate their wedding anniversary as will John and Joyce Pyo on the 30th. Happy Anniversary to both couples.
VETERANS
The names I am looking for information on this week for the Veterans History Book are all World War Two veterans: Emerson Beck, Robert Beck, Joseph E. Behe, Francis Bender, Harry E. Benton, Pete Bobrovich or Borrovich, D. Boman and Bernard, Kenneth and Raymond Bost. Patti Millich from Ohio helped with some of last weeks names.
I have hit the magical number of 300 pages of information now typed in so it’s down hill now but really it is the harder part as I have too dig deeper for information. There are about 800 names I still need information on. Over 1400 have been recorded so far.
