After the tree lighting program visits with Santa and cookies will be available at the borough building. Also the horse and sleigh rides will run from 5 until 9 PM.
SYMPATHIES
Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of WW2 veteran George Suchta, a Lilly native, who died recently in Altoona. Sympathy is also extended to the family and friends of Barbara Bulinsky Carter who died recently in Waldorf, Maryland. Barbara was from Scanlan Hill and graduated from Lilly High School in 1960.
RUMORS
I have been tracking a rumor that impacts Washington Township for several weeks now and think the taxpayers and residents of the township need informed information from their supervisors about the rumored attempt to purchase a large tract of land for almost ½ million dollars. This topic has not been discussed at a public meeting.
There may be good reasons for such a purchase but the township taxpayers and residents should be fully informed, involved and in agreement as they are the ones who will shoulder this large debt for many years to come.
BIRTHDAYS
Fred Behe Jr. celebrates his birthday today, November 25th. Then on the 26th Joseph Gides, Deb Hartline, James Lego. Bernard Phillips and Sara Stauski celebrate as will James Lingafelt, Rick Nadolsky, Barbara Pysher and Bill Wilkinson V.
On November 28th Carissa Cyran and Florence Stevens observe birthdays as will Taylor Tomlinson on the 29th. Demi Russian celebrates on the 30th. December 1st will find Robert Bennett Jr. and Amy Stauski observing birthdays as will Barbara Bart, Brad Phillips and Priscilla Sibis on the 2nd. Happy Birthday to All.

On November 26th Margaret and Thomas Cochran celebrate their wedding anniversary followed by Joan and Regis Kimback and Seborah and Scott Selip on the 29th. James and Mary Kozak celebrate on the 30th.
Frank and Joan Sibis celebrate their 53rd wedding anniversary on December 1st. Marilyn and Rick Nadolsky also celebrate that day. On the 2nd Howard and Susan McIntosh observe their anniversary. Best Wishes to all couples.
BEAR HUNTERS
As I write this column the hardy bear hunters are tracking through the Pennsylvania woodlands in pursuit of the black bear during this falls season. I never agree with the cubs being shot and don’t consider anyone shooting one a trophy hunter. However we have one guy in Lilly that can claim records of sort with full size bears. Frank Klayko has downed 11 so far, all in Canada.
VETERANS
The World War 2 veterans that I am looking for information on this week include Francis and Kenneth Hassenplug, Andrew Hegedus, Jesse Higgins, Walter Hmiel, John Homerick, John Hufford, William B. Iapalucci and Robert and Peter Kait.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
When we were in school many, many moons ago, Thanksgiving was an exciting time mainly because of the extra long weekend that ran into the first day of Buck Hunting the following Monday. That tradition still remains although there are far less hunters found among the student classes.
Enjoy the Holiday with your family and friends and even take some time to watch the Macy’s parade on TV.
