BOOK DISTRIBUTION
History books may be picked up at the Lilly Borough Building on Cleveland Street from 9 am until 8 pm on Monday, November 10th and from 10 am until 7 pm on Tuesday, November 11th. Only books ordered for pickup will be available. Those that requested shipping will be sent direct from the printers. The books are heavy so bring a plastic bag if picking up several.
Over 1000 books were ordered in advance of the deadline. A second printing is required and those ordered after October 25th will be in before Christmas. Additional books can still be ordered for $53 plus $7 if shipping is desired. SOUP TO GO SALE
ST. Luke’s Lutheran Church is sponsoring a Soup to Go Sale on November 15th with proceeds going to the Town Clock fund. Both vegetable and chicken noodle soups are available at $4 a quart. Pick up time is from 10 am until 2 pm. Soup can be ordered by calling the church at 886-2222, Jane Kunko at 736-2968, John Bender at 886-7364 or Debbie George at 472-4270 by November 14th.Your support of this worthwhile project that benefits the entire community is most appreciated

LILLY FIRE AUXILIARY SALE
Christmas is coming fast and the Lilly Fire Auxiliary is making 22 inch Douglas Fur wreaths with bow available for $15 or Douglas Fur swags available with a bow for $8. Also live poinsettias with 3 to 5 blooms in a 6 i/2 inch pot for $7 in choice of red, white or pink. Call Linda at 886-7307 or Judy at 886-5217. The auxiliary is also selling a 50/50 available at Deluca's Market, the Borough building or from any fireman.
SLEIGH RIDES
Sleigh Rides on November 29th in conjunction with the Christmas tree lighting and Borough birthday party can be reserved at Galls Insurance for $20 a sleigh holding up to 6 or $5 a person. This only covers the cost of bringing the horses and sleigh to town for the event. Rides will run from 5 pm until 9 pm. and make for a nice family event.
SYMPATHY
Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Ted Bryja who recently passed away. Ted was a WW2 veteran and for those readers who remember when beer was a nickel or dime a glass will remember when Ted ran a salon in the Shullman building that later became Tookies.
VETERANS DAY
Veterans Day ceremonies will be held at the Lilly War Memorial Field at 11 am on November the 11th sponsored by the American Legion. A roll call of those veterans who have died in the past year will be read.
BIRTHDAYS
Celebrating birthdays today, November 6th, are: Bill Conley Sr., Dana Rainey, Mary Lou Ritz, Marie Trybus and Marianne Weldon. On the 7th Charity Lingafelt, Nicole Martino and Shannon McIntosh celebrate as will Ann (Hershel) Fetsick in Pittsburgh.
On November 8th little Gracie Glass turns two years old down on Portage Street. Her mom is Katie Glass and dad is Nathan McDermott. Also on the 8th Harry Behe and Sandy Miorelli celebrate. Then on the 9th its cake and ice cream time for Kathy Bocci and my aunt Helena Shall.
The 10th is a busy day as Nancy Cassisi, Elizabeth McCool. Francis McIntosh and Lisa Tremel all observe birthdays as will Bill Mulhearn, Mary Mallin and Veronica Sanders on the 11th and Edward Kawtoski on the 12th. Happy Birthday to All.
ANNIVERSARIES
Congratulations to Anna Mae and Frank Giblock who celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary today, November 6th and also to Anthony and Stacy Miorelli who are also celebrating. On the 9th John and Marie Dougherty celebrate as will Angela and Greg Moyer on the 11th.
That heavy snowfall last week was quite a shocker to awake to, at least it melted away in two days but bodes ill for what is still to come. I intend to go into partial hibernation for the winter and will only get up on Christmas day and New Years Eve.
